Intro
Hi, I’m Colin Walsh — a Galway-based eco writer and weekend angler. This space is about simple things that make life outdoors kinder: a warm coffee on a windy bench, a tidy riverbank, a slow walk you can fit between buses and rain showers.

Who I am
I grew up noticing weather more than forecasts: rain on stone, wind in grass, that soft pause after a squall. Galway made this a daily rhythm. I write short, practical notes on walking, coastal days, and low-waste habits that actually stick. Most weeks you’ll find me by the Corrib with a notebook, or on a quiet path watching clouds move.

What I write about

Simple sustainability: small habits with big staying power — packing light, sorting at home, leaving less trace.

Coffee outdoors: calm five-minute rituals, warm drinks on the go, benches with a view.

Kind angling: patience, respect for water and fish, enjoying the “no-catch” day.

Irish weather & walking: rain skills, tide sense, micro-adventures you can do without a car.

How I work
No lectures, no guilt. I prefer tiny experiments: a one-hour city loop, a low-waste picnic, a fog photo with very little gear. If it’s simple and kind, it tends to last.

Values

Attention over perfection. Close a gate, pocket a wrapper, keep voices low near water.

Leave places better. Pack out what you bring; if you can, lift one extra bit.

Local first. Learn the rhythm of tides, paths and buses — and thank the weather when it behaves.

Work with me
I’m open to community-minded projects: guides, features, education around responsible outdoor life. If the brief matches the spirit of this blog, I’m all ears.
